The Tonk district at present has two sub-divisions viz. Tonk and Malpura, comprising six tehsils and six panchayat samities.

  • Electricity
The total capacity is 53.15 mva. Out of 1,019 villages 963 were electrified as on March 2000.   
  • Water
Wells and tanks are the main source of irrigation, seasional rivers in district are Banas, Mahi, Daian, Sohadra and Bandi. These help the cultivators irrigate their lands either by using the stored water in tanks or by lifting water. The depth of underground water in the district is reported between 2 mtrs. in Niwai to 16.25 mtrs. in Tonk.   
  • Road Transport
The total road length of tonk district is 1,105 kms. National Highway No.12 (Jaipur-Jabalpur) passes through Niwai, Tonk and Deoli panchayat samitis for a distance of 111 kms. Road length in the district was 1,770 km. as on 31 March 2000.   
  • Rail Transport
There are three main routes in tonk distrrict, one along the south-east boundary of the district, another across the western area of Diggi, Malpura, Tordi and Toda Raisingh and the third across the eastern area of Niwai tehsil only. Mumbai -Delhi broad gauge line of western railway passes through the south-east boundary of tonk district. The total rail length of these lines in the district is 99 km.
